Seeks to promote and recognize environmentally-sustainable businesses in the community.​

Lake Zurich, IL –The Village is proud to announce the launch of its new Green Business Program, an initiative aimed at fostering sustainable practices within the local business community. Lake Zurich’s Green Business Program is designed to empower environmentally- friendly practices, reduce the carbon footprint of businesses of all sizes, and contribute to a more sustainable future.
 
Mayor Tom Poynton says, “this new Green Business Program reflects Lake Zurich’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and its continued dedication to driving positive change in the business landscape. We hope businesses put forth the effort that result in tangible benefits for the community. We know business plays a crucial role in shaping a sustainable future and can make a meaningful impact.”
 
Executive Director of the Lake Zurich Area Chamber of Commerce Claire Slattery is also excited about this new Lake Zurich initiative, saying, “we are excited to introduce the Green Business Program as part of our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility in the Lake Zurich community. We look forward to partnering with the Village with a shared goal of inspiring positive change across industries.”
 
After implementing sustainable practices, Lake Zurich businesses will have the opportunity to earn points for demonstrating climate-friendly action items. Business that earn at least 15 points will be awarded the Lake Zurich Green Business Award by the Mayor at a future live-broadcast Village Board meeting. Businesses will also receive official recognition on Village social media, the community newsletter, and a village-issued press release announcing to local media outlets their business excellence.
